We are really pleased to announce today that Careology will join the cancer support services offered to Aviva’s private medical insurance members (on large corporate healthcare schemes). Access to Careology will be provided to members with a cancer diagnosis, to help patients manage their treatment more effectively.
Careology is the first intelligent technology that empowers people living and dealing with cancer to feel in control of their care. We do this by helping patients to easily navigate key elements of treatment in a digital-first way, while seamlessly connecting to clinicians, caregivers and family.
By combining a patient-led approach with a cutting-edge data and technology platform, Careology is better equipping patients, providing much-needed reassurance between appointments, while helping clinicians and caregivers to be proactive in their care and support. With Careology technology able to improve triage, clinical resource is directed to where it’s needed most, helping to reduce pressure on healthcare systems that are under immense pressure after the pandemic.
On today’s news, Paul Landau, Founder and CEO of Careology commented:
“We are very pleased to start working with Aviva, one of the UK’s largest insurers, to enhance the cancer support service they offer to members. The Careology team is completely focused on putting those dealing with cancer more in control of their cancer journey, and making a diagnosis that little bit easier to manage. We are seeing significant interest from both healthcare providers and private medical insurance providers in partnering given our patient-first approach.”
The Careology technology has been designed to help patients stay on top of every aspect of treatment, with a complete record of symptoms, medications, side effects, appointments and general notes - all in one place. Virtual support is provided whenever needed, with patients able to check symptoms and receiving personalised content from our charity partners, which is pulled through an API.
When symptoms may require medical attention, the technology prompts the patient to contact their healthcare provider. Patients can also nominate family and friends to receive status updates, allowing caregivers to be proactive in their support.
Careology was launched in 2019, with a mission to help everyone affected by cancer create more ‘up-days’ and make the ‘down-days’ more manageable. Today’s news follows a string of high profile tie-ups between Careology and a number of leading healthcare organisations, including Nuffield Health and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust - one of the leading centres in the UK for cancer treatment and research. Careology is also a strategic partner of Macmillan Cancer Support.
About Careology
Careology is building the world’s leading digital cancer care platform. By equipping and seamlessly connecting patients, caregivers and healthcare teams in a complex pathway, our mission is to use technology to transform traditional cancer care and change everyone’s cancer story for the better. Today the platform allows patients to manage and navigate all aspects of treatment from their device, while leveraging critical data on symptoms, medications, side effects and more, to deliver insight and analysis to clinical teams through a ‘virtual ward’. By increasing the potential for patients to self-serve, improving workflows, making 24/7 monitoring possible and putting a unique data set to work, we are helping to relieve pressure on health systems, while reducing costs, improving patient and clinician experience, and optimising health outcomes.
